Yoga has a way of bringing people together. To embark on a journey, we all come to practise for a different reasons.
WHEN YOU STEP ON YOUR MAT, YOU FEEL A SENSE OF EMPOWERMENT. A SENSE OF GROUNDING, A SENSE OF CLARITY.
For me, I can't think of many things that can bring all of those senses by stepping onto a mat, into a mindset that brings peace and warmth.
I started yoga approximately three years ago, some months I was consistent, others I wouldn't practise at all. Or I'd attempt to start, half way through a practise, I found myself wandering, I was not present. It sparked something inside. When we love something, we make time right?
A few years ago, I had a car accident that left me battered and broken, it took a long time to recover and some days I am still in agony, some days worse then others. These injuries left me feeling vulnerable, confidence was at an all time low. I made excuses for myself, my body became tight, I had less mobility, aches and pains. My judgement, mind was cloudy. Pain in my joints and muscles, I felt fatigued, irritable. Some would call me a bundle of fun.
I know, I know, it sounds cliché. Like any girl, I needed a way to find the me I was happy with. Soul searching is a constant path we walk along, always finding new ways or new things that make us feel more alive, the beauty of that is,
‘KNOWING THE CHOICE IN WHAT WE LIMIT OUR HAPPINESS TO, IS OUR OWN’
The hurdle I find most challenging is making uninterrupted time for myself. Procrastination is my forte.
Yoga class, is a safe zone, free of judgement. The moment you walk into the room, you leave everything behind. It is not a place to worry about how you look, how flexible you are, how strong you are.
YOU ARE MOST BEAUTIFUL WHEN YOU ARE YOURSELF.
